RV TIPS & TRICKS

Extending the Life of Your Motorhome

When you spend tens of thousands of dollars on something such as an RV, you want to do everything you can to ensure you’ll have it for as long as you can. There are steps you should take after the purchase of an RV to get the most use out of it as possible.

Become a Regular

Just like with your car or home, regular servicing and maintenance of your RV will help extend its life. You could do it yourself, but unless you do this full time, it’s tough to have the knowledge and resources to get the job done. Routine work, such as engine upkeep, tires, and checking for exterior damage will help you keep up with the repairs that need to be done, helping your RV stay in great shape.

Off Season Parking

A second consideration you need to make is how and where you park your RV when it’s not in use. If you’re not a weekend RVer, it might not make sense to just put it in the driveway after each use. If you have the facilities on your property, parking it inside the garage/shed or an RV port will help extend its life. If you aren’t able to do this at your home, there are storage facilities that accommodate RVs and are usually very affordable. Find one near you to park your RV between trips.

Make it Last

As with a car, the more frequently you use your RV, the more frequently you’ll need to have it serviced. RVs are designed to handle high mileage, but the care your RV receives will make a huge difference in if it reaches that high mileage mark or not. Keep track of your mileage and how often you take it out to determine when you need to pop the hood and check the tires. With the right care, you’ll enjoy your RV for thousands of miles, and for years to come!
